En los años 1950, la Deutsche Reichsbahn quiso poner en marcha el paso a diésel mediante el cambio de las locomotoras a vapor por una flota moderna de locomotoras estandarizadas que, entre todas las variantes disponibles, pudiera cubrir cualquier servicio necesario en la red. Comenzaron a salir muchos diseños de locomotoras, como los de la V60, la V90 y la V164. Sin embargo, ninguno conseguía cubrir el mercado de 1000 caballos de potencia (746 kW), así que se creó un nuevo diseño.

La locomotora V100, la primera de las nuevas de 1000 caballos de potencia, se construyó en 1966 tras la producción de dos prototipos y el resultado fue una locomotora simétrica con la cabina en medio, lo que permitía su manejo en cualquiera de las dos direcciones. En general, se construyeron más de 860 de estas locomotoras, que se utilizaron para el tráfico de mercancías de peso medio por toda la Alemania Oriental.

Durante su vida útil, muchas de las locomotoras fueron reconstruidas para adaptarse a labores más específicas. A algunas de estas locomotoras se les añadió un motor de 1475 caballos de potencia (1100 kW) y fueron clasificadas como DR-Baureihe 114. Con la reunificación de Alemania y la fusión de la Deutsche Reichsbahn y la Deutsche Bundesbahn, se les volvió a cambiar el nombre a estas locomotoras, que pasaron a ser las DB BR 204. También aumentó el uso de las mismas, sobre todo como locomotoras de maniobras.

Theater Commander: The Coming Wars is a real-time modern warfare simulation game focusing on campaign and battle level. It features more than a dozen scenarios covering hypothetical conflicts around the globe, from the Sea of Japan to Korean Peninsula, from the Taiwan Strait to the Indian subcontinent, from Sinai Peninsula to East Europe and Crimea. In addition to traditional air and naval warfare, Theater Commander introduces large-scale land battles involving up to thousands of land units for each battle down to company level. You are posted as a joint force commander in command of assigned air, naval and land force consisted of up to half million soldiers to carry out missions such as destroying hostile fleets, landing on enemy territories, crossing borders and seizing control of enemy cities.

• Each battle map, covering an area of up to 2000km x 2000km, is built on accurate satellite terrain data (mountain, hill, plain, river etc), land cover data (forest, grassland, scrubland, desert etc) and human facility data (road, railway, city, airport etc). The game engine calculates the outcome of engagement based on terrain, unit strength, weaponry and morale, making each battle a real experience.

• Most of the units involved in the battles, not only aircraft and warships, but also land units, are labelled with true names and equipped with weapons as they serve in their countries, to the best knowledge of Theater Commander developers through years of efforts on data gathering.

• Theater Commander developers spent great time on making the game easier to play for players not having profound knowledge on modern warfare. For most operations, if desired, players only need to define the routes for the units, leaving tactical manoeuver, weapon selection and other parameters to the AI, just as a theater commander should do.

• Like other air and naval warfare simulators, the game engine calculates the air and naval engagement based on a variety of parameters including but not limited to directional RCS, supersonic maneuverability, weapons envelope, and electronic technology. Missile attack and interception is calculated at near-real-time and displayed with smooth animation.

• Theater Commander supports sophisticated military actions, such as airborne attack, helicopter assault and amphibious mission. Short-range ballistic missile, long-range cruise missile launch and interception are also included.

The FA-18C Aggressors BFM campaign puts you in the cockpit of an FA-18C Hornet, as a new Aggressor pilot with VFC-12 the “Fighting Omars” on loan to the 65th Aggressor Squadron at Nellis Air Force Base. Based on real world procedures you will fly as Red Air against Blue Air Forces. Upon arrival you will fly a familiarization flight around the Nevada Test and Training Range (NTTR). Then you will face a series of challenging Basic Fighter Maneuver (BFM) missions against similar and dis-similar aircraft.

• Your opponents include the F-4E, F-5E, F-14A, F-15C, F-15E, F-16C, F/A-18C, M-2000C, MiG-29G, CF-188, MiG-21 and Su-27.
  
• Additionally there are 12 single player practice missions with in-air starts so you can perfect your BFM tactics, techniques and procedures.

DCS: Supercarrier

DCS: Supercarrier is the most detailed and realistic simulation of a Nimitz-class aircraft carrier ever created. A Nimitz-class aircraft carrier is a nuclear-powered fortress at sea with a crew of over 6,000 sailors and airmen. The angled flight deck with arrestor wires and four steam-powered catapults support air wing operations of up to 90 aircraft. The ship also includes a formidable air defense system that includes the RIM-7 Sea Sparrow Missile and RIM-116 Rolling Airframe Missile (RAM) missiles, and Close-In Weapon System (CIWS) gun system. A Nimitz-class aircraft carrier is the ultimate power projection weapon.
