Bloodwood Dungeon is a text-based adventure game. Simple, gamebook-style battle and inventory management are combined with a branching story. Atmosphere and dialog are important aspects. You will explore Bloodwood, a place of legend shunned by most. Its abandoned ruins are waiting to be explored, and its dungeons and caves are ready to reward you or swallow you up at a moment’s notice.


Give Bloodwood Dungeon a go if the following statements ring true when you play RPGs or adventure games:

The main game loop is exceedingly simple, and purposely so: the player reads what happens, and then gets to choose from a small number of actions to progress the story. Most locations can be revisited and fast travel is available through a map.

There are just four stats parameters to consider: hit points, strength, armor and fighting prowess. That’s it. In addition, the protagonist keeps an amount of gold and some items, including weapons.

The fighting system is turn-based, like everything else in the game. Despite the rudimentary battle loop using RGN in the style of old gamebooks, there is sometimes room for tactics.

A started session is associated with just one save slot, meaning permadeath in theory. In practice, this is circumvented through an in-world mechanism that is akin to the bonfires of the Souls games.


Bloodwood Dungeon is heavily inspired by the gamebooks that were so popular in the eighties. One of the most appealing features of this form of solo adventuring was the small scope: rarely did these books consist of more than 500 situations in which to choose from a small number of actions so as to further the story. The battle system and inventory management were rudimentary and designed to be mastered immediately. That way, the action could start right away.

The meticulous tinkering with inventory items and stats optimization so popular in games these days… there was rarely much of that.

And even though the interactivity was low with today’s standards, the reader/player still had the illusion of agency, of having the power to affect the miniature world conjured up within the gamebook’s pages.

Bloodwood Dungeon strives to recreate that feeling.

「発見」が散りばめられたマップ探索

　王国には無数の隠し扉、隠し通路がある。
　手掛かりは必ず存在し、それは地形の見た目の違和感か、あるいは死者の記憶かもしれない。

　また、互いに繋がった数多のダンジョンにはそれぞれ固有のギミックが存在する。
　道が塞がれている時もあれば、解かずに別の方法で回避できることもあるだろう。

　隠された場所では宝箱が見つかることもあり、赤い宝箱からは装備品が得られる。
　道中では仲間を得ることもでき、旅に必要な資源はほとんど探索で得ることができる。

失われた記憶を探し出し、再誕せよ

　もしくは、ただの土地の逸話、死者の断末魔でしかないかもしれない。

　いずれにせよ、それは荒廃した王国で得られる貴重な情報源であることに変わりはない。

　オプション機能により一度覗いた残留思念に既読印を付ければ、探索の道標にもなる。
　また、探索の手掛かりになる残留思念の内容は、自動的にメモに記録される。

情報は互いに繋がっていく

　残留思念から得た情報は、時折他の場所で得た情報と繋がることがある。
　全てを覚えておく必要はないが、些細な情報も頭の片隅に置いておけば、
　思わぬ発見が得られるかもしれない。

ボス以外の戦闘はすべて自由

　探索を妨げる魔物は、ギミックで避けてもいいし、ビルドやレベルで蹂躙してもいい。

　探索で十分な装備や仲間を得ていれば、道を塞ぐボスもレベル上げせずとも倒せるだろう。
　また、幾つかのボスは戦うことすら必要ないかもしれない…

　力を求める者はレベルを上げれば、純粋なパワーで魔物を薙ぎ倒すことができるはずだ。
　ただし、通常の魔物に固有のドロップアイテムなどは存在しない。
　冒険が進めば探索で得た資源を使って、仲間のレベルを一瞬であなたに近付けることもできる。

　すなわち、この地で過剰な魔物狩りを求められることはない。

基本機能

　この地では全てを教えてくれる者はおらず、基本的には自ら探ることが求められるが、
　助けとしてより探索に注力できる機能がメニューのシステムから使える。以下は一例。

　・マッピング：一度歩いたところは自動的に簡易のマッピングをしてくれる。
　・戦利品ログ：手に入れたアイテムを順番に8000個まで遡って確認できる。
　・オートメモ：重要な情報、鍵のかかった扉を自動的に記録し、完了後にチェック済みになる。
　・倉庫転送　：所持制限を超えたアイテムは自動的に倉庫に送られる。
　・自動補充　：消費したアイテムは、拠点に帰れば倉庫から自動的に所持制限まで補充される。

　また、様々な場面でスキップや高速化ができる。

　・オート戦闘
　・戦闘の早送り機能
　・メッセージの瞬間表示
　・各地の中継地点へのショートカット

　ただし、拠点へ一瞬で帰る方法は「死」のみになる。帰り道は把握しておこう。

　・敗北者の血文字：死者の血からボスの情報を得ることができる。
　・古代言語学：古代の言葉を習得できる。

アップグレード式のマルチエンディング

　物語の結末は、あなたの決断によって段階的に変化していく。
　プレイ時間や通常敵の撃破数、図鑑の進行度、難易度などによるエンド分岐はない。
　重要な決断の前に記録を分けておけば、1周で全ての結末を見ることができる。

　また、どこを旅の終わりとするかは、あなた次第だ。

要素の回収はいつでも可能

　進行で取れなくなるアイテムや狩れない魔物はおらず、クリア後に全て回収することができる。
　周回の引き継ぎ要素が存在せず、2周目限定のイベントやアイテムもないため、
　各要素の回収のために周回が強制されることはない。

　好奇心の赴くままに、探索しよう。

　[DE:]Fanastasis(DE版)は、「Fanastasis」の通常版(フリー)に、
　新要素、便利機能、見た目の変更などを追加したバージョンです。

　通常版の要素はほとんど含まれているため、初プレイでも問題なくプレイできます。
　(本編のボリュームが増え、便利機能によってより遊びやすくなっています)

　ストーリーやエンディングは通常版と同じなので、そちらでも大まかな内容は把握できます。

偏りのあるゲーム要素

　・エンディングを除き、操作できない強制イベントがほぼありません。
　　また、一方的にストーリーが与えられる場面やクエスト要素はほぼありません。

　・稼ぎやしらみ潰しなどの繰り返し要素は必要ありません。
　　トレハンや「育成自体を目的とした育成」の要素はなく、
　　探索は総当たりでも突破できますが、基本的には何らかの手掛かりがあります。

As the Last Hero, you will be ordered by the King and set out.
You ask, “Where should go?”, The King just says, “Well … isn’t it the Evil King’s Castle? Go to the Evil King’s Castle.”
With an ambiguous purpose, you will travel around towns and dungeons, solving various incidents , and gradually step into the core of the story.

Cannibalistic otters, a great floodgate, bizarre monster swarms, mysterious night theater, a ship traveling in the desert, deep tropical caves, three jinn, secret elixir, sleeping sick daughter … Let’s go to the world of Utorepia!

• Weapon proficiency and magic proficiency are available, and parameters increase according to how you fight. You are free to equip any weapon, learn any magic, and grow it.

• With the prey system, you can sell monsters defeated in battle as prey and exchange them for money, or make weapons and armor.
