Эта игра имеет свой собственный, отдельный большой мир, локации, врагов, боссов и базируется на других концепциях. Если Древние Русы — это сюжетное ролевое приключение, то Древние Русы: Выживание — это веселый кооператив в большом открытом мире, где вы будете совместно с напарниками искать способы победы над боссами, продвигаясь по биомам. Данная игра концентрируется на идее кооперативного выживания.

В отличие от серьезного тона оригинальной игры, Древние Русы: Выживание имеет более пародийный характер, где вы сможете найти множество отсылок, шуток и юмора. Игра призвана развлекать своим необычным сеттингом и дарить веселое настроение.

Для убийства боссов вам придется создавать множество вещей, станков, добывать ресурсы и многое другое. У каждого в вашей команде будет своя роль — маг, лучник или воин.

Также в игре имеется строительство, ведь вам нужно где-то жить, готовить пищу, создавать предметы и хранить вещи. И, в конце концов, должно быть место для чучела головы ящера.
